Vattenfall: Safety Analysis Testing in Simulators

GSE, working with the Ringhals Power Station, developed an approach to perform safety analysis method testing for Vattenfall / Ringhals AB plant utilizing PSA results in the form of Minimum Cut Sets (MCS). The MCS results can be translated into Malfunctions used in simulators and scenarios, predicted by the PSA codes, which could then be tested using the Best Estimate codes to verify the physical consequences instead of relying only on “engineering judgment”.
