Simulator Upgrades & Maintenance
Keep your simulators on pace with operations. Many simulators are tied to outdated computers and limited, proprietary operating systems. Upgrading and renovating these systems includes platform and computer replacements, instructor station upgrades, interface upgrades and the creation of advanced models for fluid, gaseous, electrical, or control systems.
|GSE offers its simulation computer updates and associated simulator executive systems with a choice of operating systems. We can integrate with legacy and other 3rd party platforms that are used and trusted by innovative partners like NuScale. Our services offer the flexibility to help you keep costs low and maintain technical merit to standardize code to regulatory acceptance.
Platform and Computer Rehost
GSE responds to its customer update needs with tailored solutions. Every customer has specific requirements – we can customize our solutions to address those needs. The first phase of simulator updates involves updating the major simulator platforms including the simulation computer, the instructor station and/or the panel interface system.
Instructor Station Replacements
One of the more visible components of GSE’s software is powerful instructor stations that puts the instructor in full command of simulator session management. These instructor stations provide a common graphical user interface for its instructor view and operator view. Using state-of-the-art technology and a design approach of extensive, forward thinking simulation user inputs, JStation (Java based) delivers the flexibility and ease of use to meet all your needs.
JStation provides a complete range of features to control and monitor your simulator. It allows you to set up a training session by choosing the initial plant starting conditions and configuring various equipment changes to occur during the training session. This may be done either by direct instructor actions, or by running a predefined automated plant procedure.
Panel Interface/Output (I/O) System
As the majority of nuclear power plants simulators around the world are reaching 30+ years of age, input / output (I/O) system replacements are becoming more common. Hardware engineers are tired of complicated repairs, obsolete parts and maxed out racks. Trainers and operators are tired of weekly downtime where they cannot train on the simulator due to I/O problems.
As an experienced simulator I/O replacement partner, GSE has extensively researched and implemented some of the top names in modular I/O. The chart below compares a handful of the most prominent modular I/O solution providers; Beckoff (EtherCAT IO), Wago (750), and Weidmuller (u-Remote). GSE can help you determine which I/O solution is best for your plant’s simulator.
GSE’s technology starts with the most robust engineering approach possible. By using state-of-the-art modeling tools, industry best engineering codes, and years of nuclear energy expertise, GSE simulators can achieve unparalleled fidelity and realism.
Using state-of-the-art technology and a design approach that features extensive, forward thinking simulation user input, GSE’s JADE or XTREME environments delivers the flexibility and ease of use to meet all your simulator needs. Combining our modeling technology and proven implementation methodologies, we bring true high-fidelity power plant simulators to users worldwide.
As part of GSE Solutions group, GSE Systems strives for operational excellence in the power industry. We leverage specialized technology and expertise in simulation, modeling and on-demand learning to create agile, end-to-end training solutions that reduce risk and optimize performance.
Created by industry-leading engineers, JADE and XTREME tools have been designed to create an effective and efficient work environment through the lifetime of the plant. Each tool uses visual features to provide efficient management of design data, configuration items, and for revision control in the development and maintenance of the simulator and support releases of third-party software operating systems, database management tools and software compilers.
